Everything starts with a good breakfast.

...even during the time of Corona. Why shy away from trying a new breakfast recipe? Many people love crunchy. However, the store-bought crunchy cereals are often not the healthiest or best for athletes. That's why here's a quick recipe to make a slightly different crunchy granola at home. This way, your day not only starts with a wholesome breakfast but also with enough energy and nutrients for your daily training. Because physical activity should still be a part of our daily routine, even during the time of Corona.

Roasted Crunchy Chickpea Granola

(2-3 Servings)

  • Chickpeas (preferably raw), 300 g (or alternatively, 2 cans)
  • Cinnamon, ½ tsp
  • Nutmeg (ground), a pinch
  • Honey, 1 tbsp
  • Canola oil, ½ tbsp

  1. Soak chickpeas in water overnight, then cook in fresh water for 30 minutes. Sometimes the outer skin comes off; this is not a problem, simply remove it.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  3. Roast chickpeas in the oven for 15 minutes.
  4. Remove chickpeas from the oven and drizzle 1 tbsp of canola oil over them. Sprinkle cinnamon, nutmeg, and honey onto the chickpeas.
  5. Place them back in the oven for an additional 15 minutes.
  6. Turn off the oven, open it, but leave the chickpeas in the oven to cool – this will make them even crispier.

Tip: Serve with yogurt, then add a banana, poppy seeds, and a few walnuts. Alternatively, mix with fresh fruit, milk, and grated nuts.

For canned chickpeas: Wash with water before use and pat dry with kitchen paper.
